Overview

Once upon a time, before the unification of the Oikumene, small fragments of humanity were scattered in different corners of the universe. Nation-states were born, but communication with other countries was almost impossible, for travel required many hundreds of years. Soon, however, the Eris Empire discovered strange objects in space. Further investigation revealed that they allowed instantaneous travel from one area of space to another. Jump Gates, as they were called, allowed previously isolated star systems to be linked, and the Age of Discovery began. A multitude of human states began to struggle for power, conquering and conquering, submitting and withdrawing from the scene, constantly redrawing the political map of the Oikumene. It is now the year 939 on the calendar of the Unified Universe. The heads of the three strongest nations are seeking war for various reasons, planning to unleash a grand meat grinder. As for the strongest existing nation, the Eris Empire, a parliamentary session has decided to stop the wars and chaos by bringing the entire world under its authority. Meanwhile, the world's oldest nation, the Empire of Japan, is on the verge of collapse, exhausted by a long war with the Chinese. The death of the previous minister and many honored admirals forces the Empress to take extreme measures. She appoints Togo Tsuyoshi, an admiral known for his unconventionality, as head of the entire navy, which must be rebuilt almost from scratch. The Mikado is a good judge of character and believes Tsuyoshi will do everything to protect the Japanese Empire.
